A rare deep blue turquoise mined in Nevada. Blue Diamond was mined mostly in the 60's an 70's. You don't see much of this great stuff anymore. It is dark blue with a black matrix of dendrites and triangle shaped black chert. The blue is often a swirling of two dark blues,....it's stunning.

The Blue Gem mines near Battle Mountain, Nevada produced a great variety of turquoise, from intense blues to deep green combinations with a hard, irregularly distributed matrix. The Battle Mountain mine & the Tonapah mine began production in 1934 and are now closed. Because of it's rich color and hardness, Blue Gem is greatly desired by collectors.

The Kingman mine in northwestern Arizona was one of the largest turquoise mines in North America. The term "Kingman" or "high blue" refer to it's distinct blue color. It is the color standard for the industry. The mine became famous for it's rounded, bright blue nuggets with black matrix. Old natural Kingman turquoise is rare and hard to find.

In 1890 I.P.King discovered the Manassa Turquoise vein while looking for gold. The vein is considered the largest vein of turquoise ever found. Manassa, Colorado is in the south central part of the San Luis valley. Manassa turquoise is known for it's blue/green to green color with a golden brown non-webbed matrix.

The Number 8 mine in Eureka County, Nevada was mined from 1929 to 1976 when it became a gold claim.
Number 8 has character in it's appearance and can be easily identified. With it's golden brown to black distinctive spiderweb matrix and unique bright powder blue and green background. It has been valued for it's beauty and reputed spiritual and life giving qualities.

The Sleeping Beauty mine is located near Globe, Arizona. It's turquoise is noted for it's solid, light blue color with little or no matrix. Sleeping Beauty turquoise is the favorite of the Zuni Pueblo silversmiths for use in petite point, needlepoint, and inlay jewelry. This mine is one of the largest in North America and is still operating.

The Sunnyside mine was mined mostly in the 70's until it became part of a gold mining operation. There are no longer any large stashes of this stone which increases it's value.
This material has good color and extreme hardness. Dark spiderweb matrix sets off the stones unique color.

Turquoise Mountain and "Birdseye" come from the same mine in northwestern Arizona near the Kingman mine. The mine was closed in the 1980s. It is light to high blue, with webbed and non-webbed matrix. "Birdseye" describes stones from this mine that show areas of light blue.
